STC Acoustical Consulting LTD. reviewed architectural drawings for the locations and amount of sound absorptive materials within various spaces within the school. During the acoustical review of the project, Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating of the demising walls between noisy areas (e.g. café, gym and corridor) and noise sensitive areas (e.g. library, classrooms and auditorium) were reviewed, and Reverberation Times were calculated based on information within the drawings. Recommendations to provide for noise mitigation from mechanical systems as well as standard speech intelligibility within the school in various areas such as the auditorium were provided. Required recommendations were made based on the results from the above calculations and with respect to the required information provided by the client and design team and in order to achieve acoustical environment conforming to ANSI 12.60 standards.
